"Anemia Diagnosis" profile

The Anemia Diagnosis profile consists of the following analyses:

  • Complete Blood Count with a leukocyte count (CBT)
  • Reticulocyte count
  • Iron (Fe
  • Transferrin
  • Ferritin
  • Latent iron binding capacity (LIBC)
  • Vitamin B12
  • Folic acid

Anemia diagnosis is a comprehensive examination to diagnose iron deficiency in the body and determine the cause of this condition, which is necessary for adequate treatment of the disease.

Complete Blood Count (CBC) is required to determine the amount of hemoglobin, red blood cells (hemoglobin carrier cells) and to establish the anemia type (according to the ratio of these two indicators).

Reticulocyte count: reticulocytes are immature forms of red blood cells (erythrocytes).  If the body is actively producing red blood cells, their levels in the blood are increased.

Transferrin, ferritin, LIBS, vitamin B12, and folic acid are needed to establish the cause of anemia. In many cases, the problem cannot be solved only by taking iron supplements, normal blood iron levels can be restored by the elimination of the cause of the disease.
