“Choose a Pet” Profile

The "Choose a Pet" profile is a comprehensive study that allows you to identify sensitisation to the main pets and to choose the one you are not allergic to: cat, dog, hamster, parrot, as well as IgE, to detect the presence of current allergic reactions. The test is performed using recombinant allergy components ImmunoCAP, using the patient's blood.

The test result is quantified for each allergen:

  •  Cat (dander), e1 is the most common allergen among pets. Determination of specific IgE in human blood to - Cat (dander), e1, shows the body's reaction to a given allergen.
  • Dog (dander), e5 – allergy to a dog allergen at an early age is a strong predictor for the development of childhood asthma. In addition, the likelihood of remission of childhood asthma in later adolescence is reduced if a person is sensitised to furry animals such as dogs. Contact with an allergen source can cause not only immediate symptoms but also a prolonged period of bronchial hyperreactivity that can last for several weeks.
  • Hamster (epithelial), e84 – Inhalation of allergens through the respiratory tract is the main route of exposure to hamster allergens and, as the particle size in the air is very small, they can easily penetrate the lower respiratory tract, causing allergic symptoms.
  • Parrot (feather), e213 – determination of specific IgE in human blood to - Parrot (feather), e213, shows the body's reaction to a given allergen.  lgE (immunoglobulin E) - gives information whether there is an allergic reaction to immunoglobulins E Currently.

The World Health Organisation and the World Organisation of Allergists recognise ImmunoCAP as the "gold standard", as this technique has proven its accuracy and stability in independent studies.

Test method: ImmunoCAP (Immunofluorescence on solid phase)

Units: kU/l Biomaterial for the study: venous blood Preparation for the study: on an empty stomach, do not smoke for 30 minutes before the study.
