Some rare congenital metabolic diseases are associated with manganese deficiency. More often its deficiency is found in patients on parenteral nutrition for a long time. Signs of manganese deficiency: disorders of bone growth and mineralization, metabolism of carbohydrates and fats. Measuring the concentration of manganese in the blood of such patients is necessary to assess the balance of this trace element in the body.
