Kariotyping

Chromosomal Anomalies are One of the Leading Causes of Infertility, Habitual Non-pregnancy and Early Infant Mortality.

Genetic information carried by a human being plays a key role in storing data on the structure of all proteins of the organism, which is reflected in the peculiarities of its appearance, the work of internal organs, and the regulation of all processes of vital activity. This information is recorded in individual "letters", i.e., nucleotides, which, in turn, form "words", namely, genes. All genes together make up a "sentence" which is DNA, and they are packaged in specific structures called chromosomes.

A healthy person has 46 chromosomes divided into 23 pairs. 22 of these are called autosomes and are present in everyone, regardless of their sex. A pair of sex chromosomes (XX in women and XY in men) determines the sex of the organism. Thus the karyotype of a healthy male is 46, XY; and of a healthy female is 46, XX.

In ideal conditions, genetic information is transmitted without changes, but in some cases it is possible to develop various kinds of violations of the structure or number of chromosomes. Faults occur spontaneously during the formation of sex cells (sperm and egg cells) in parents or in early cell division during embryo development. Any deviation of the chromosomal set from the normal may cause infertility, habitual pregnancy failure, birth of a child with various malformations and subsequent impairment of physical and/or mental development.

Karyotyping, a service of chromosome set analysis, is now available in OLYMP CDL in Shymkent, Almaty and Turkistan cities.

Biomaterial: blood plasma.

Sampling is available in all treatment rooms of Shymkent, Almaty and Turkistan cities.

Method of research: Microscopy with software to determine the number of chromosome set.

Delivery time is 10 working days.

Instructions to prepare for the test:

  • Blood for the test should be taken on an empty stomach.
  • Do not eat fatty foods a few hours before the test.
  • 3 days before the analysis: do not exercise, exclude increased emotional stress, refrain from drinking alcohol.
  • Do not take antibiotics for 10 days before the analysis.
